1941 Cadillac Fleetwood
Sixty-Special
THIS CAR HAS BEEN SOLD
Universally recognized as one of the
greatest cars that Cadillac ever made. This one was designed
by Bill Mitchell who followed in the famous footsteps of
Harley Earl. Many knowledgeable experts consider the 1941
Cadillac to be the most beautiful and technically advanced car
of the 1940’s classic car era.
As you probably already know this is a
full CCCA registered classic. As such, it is considered the
“car of choice” for many of the national CCCA Caravan tours.
Personally, I can’t think of any other 1940’s classic that
drives as good as a ‘41 Caddy.
A ’41 Fleetwood rides on a 126-inch
wheelbase chassis and with a 346 cubic inch V-8, they are
smooth and powerful. The ’41 Cadillac and in particular the
’41 Fleetwood was my Dad’s favorite car of all time. When I
was born, he drove me home from the hospital in one of these.
Believe me, my Dad had wonderful taste in cars and he owned a
lot of the great ones over the years but he always liked these
the best. I wouldn’t be surprised if he owned over fifty
Cadillac’s in his lifetime. Yet, he always said that none of
them were as good as a ’41 Fleetwood. Personally, I drove a
’41 fastback sedanette everyday during my first two years in
college. It was an absolutely wonderful car! I could
still see driving a sixty-six year old ’41 Cadillac as an
everyday driver. They’re that good!
This one is part of a large and very
impressive collection. Actually it’s from the same one that
had the ’49 sedanette that we just sold. The cars are very
similar in condition too. This car has definitely had work
done to it but never (what I would call) a true restoration.
It was more of an amateur level of work. It’s certainly not
what I would call a show car by any means. However, with some
work, I think it could easily be presentable enough to be used
“as-is” for the time being. It's probably more then good
enough for a local “cruise night” type of show. Later, if you
choose too, you could improve some things as you
go.
What’s really important is that the car
looks very solid and very complete. I have some good pictures
of the car on a lift too, so you’ll be able to see for
yourself. The interior has had some work done to it as you can
see. I think it’s nice that they seem to have used the correct
materials such as the proper wool and Bedford cord upholstery
fabrics. Please note that the Bedford cord fabric on the seat
bolsters is definitely not as white in color as it appears in
these photos. The color is more of a shade of a tan or beige,
as you would expect.
There are some things that the car could
use right away. For starters, I know that the brakes should be
gone through. Also, a comprehensive tune-up and servicing are
in order. The cooling system should be completely checked out
too. All of this is from the fact that the car has been
sitting, un-driven in dry, inside storage for a very long time
so it’s bound to have a few “cob-webs”. Give me a call and
we’ll go over all of the details. I’ve probably got over
thirty pictures of it and if you want, I can always take more.
This car is priced right at $19,500. In fact, I think it’s more then just right. I personally think that it’s a real bargain. Where else can you find a decent, solid full CCCA classic for under twenty-grand?
