Have you been watching the prices
escalate on real 356 Porsche Speedsters in the
last couple of years? To a lot of us who have been in
this car hobby for years, what’s happening in this
market is amazing! Recently, one sold at auction for
something like $220,000 and it wasn’t a 4-cam Carrera
either. It was just a normal 1600 speedster in
admittedly great
condition. At some of the more prominent auctions 356
speedsters have been consistently selling in the one
hundred and fifty thousand dollar (plus) range for the
last year or so. Once again though, these cars appear to
be in excellent condition.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that
I’ve never been a replica car guy. Naturally we would
all prefer the real thing to a copy. However, let’s be
honest, some of these replicas are so good that if you
don’t happen to have a magnet in your hand at the moment
to test if it’s steel or fiberglass, you can hardly tell
the difference. For many of us though, we have to weigh
the cost between the two cars into the equation. Now,
I’ve said this before, if the difference in money is not
an issue to you then you should absolutely buy the real
thing. However, if you would happen to notice that
you had a hundred and forty thousand dollars less
in your checking account, maybe you should consider a
replica. With a car like this, you can have a very
similar driving experience and it isn’t a life-changing
event if something happens to it. So, if you’re
willing to consider a replica speedster priced at well
over a hundred thousand dollars LESS then the real
thing, this one definitely deserves some serious
consideration. Especially since this happens to be a
fresh car equipped with some very desirable features and
it’s priced at about ten grand less then some of the
replica speedster competition out there.
Listed below are a few of the
features and equipment on this car.
-
Wide body kit by Classic Motor
Carriages.

Fresh 1700 CC engine installed in
January 2008.

If you consider the value of the kit
itself and all of the features on the car, it’s really
like getting the labor to build it for free. To me, the
only thing that could remotely be considered a drawback
on this one is that the car appears to be in factory
gel coat rather then painted. However, I’m told that
there are some people who seem to prefer them this
way.
So, there you have it. There are a
lot of great features on this car and it’s going to be a
whole lot of fun for someone at a very low price. Please
