Mustangs are universally recognized as one of
the most collectible 1960’s American automobiles. Car enthusiasts
have never lost their appreciation and enthusiasm for the first
generation Mustang. To this day, over forty-three years since its
introduction, these cars are still extremely popular and sought
after all over the world.
This
Mustang came from my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. The car belongs
to a friend who has residences in both Nebraska and Arizona. The
car has been here in Arizona for close to four years now. The
present owner and his family have enjoyed this Mustang for
approximately twenty-nine years. Naturally over the course
of that much time, the family has used the car a lot but carefully
maintained it at the same time. Just a few years ago they did
quite a bit of work to it to restore this convertible to the
beautiful condition that you see in the attached photos.
This
was an original six cylinder equipped Mustang but since they were
doing a lot of additional restoration work anyway, Ron decided to
upgrade the engine to a four barrel, “289” cu. in. V-8. At the
same time he completed the desirable upgrade to the power front
disc brakes.
I
think the body is exceptionally straight on this Mustang when you
look down the sides and the gaps on the body panels are good as
well. Springtime yellow is the original color on this car and it
looks just as nice in person as it does in these photos. It’s a
very nice paint job to say the least. The same thing can be said
about the rest of the car too. The chrome on the car is really
nice as you can see, as is the convertible top and interior.
I’ve
provided quite a few detailed photos of the Mustang. However, I
have more that I could email directly to you if you wish? I don’t
want you to think that it’s a perfect car because it definitely is
not. It has had repairs and restoration work done to it because it
needed it. However, the owner gladly did the work because he was
seriously interested in the preservation of the automobile. There
is no question that the car has had some rust in it and likely
some minor accident damage too. I think that because of the way it
looks today, most sellers wouldn’t even mention it to you but
that’s not how I do things here.
What’s important to note though, is that the
current owners have always tried to maintain the car properly and
address any issues to the best of their ability. Because they have
owned the car for so long as I mentioned earlier, they obviously
care about the cars condition and I think the photos clearly
demonstrate that.
The
asking price on this great looking Mustang convertible is $26,500.
Considering the options on the car and how it looks and drives, we
think the asking price is fair. However, the owner is motivated to
sell it. If you’re a serious buyer, prepared to make a reasonably
close offer and act quickly, we might be able to put a deal
together.
