This car is believed to be among the finest, most fully “sorted out” Italias in this country. If you’re not familiar with these cars, they are commonly referred to as hybrids. This is an Italian design with a hand built steel body crafted in Torino, Italy by a company called Intermeccanicca.

The driveline in an Italia is American. So, you have a great combination here. There is killer Italian styling with Ford reliability, reasonable maintenance costs and great performance. Frequently, people refer to these cars as Italian bodied Shelby Cobras.

Italias were expensive when new and very limited in production. As good as all of this sounds, there are problems with these cars. Unfortunately, the quality of construction was very limited too. The attention to detail and the quality of the fit and finish just wasn’t there when the cars were new. It’s for this reason that the only really good Italias have been drastically reworked to give it the professional quality workmanship that should have been built into them in the first place.

If you see an Italia priced in the high thirties or low forty thousand-dollar range for sale, be very careful. If they don’t have thorough documentation and photographs of the restoration then it could easily be a pretty face over a lot of major problems. Generally, these are problems that the previous owner was un-willing to financially address. If they tell you these cars are cheap to restore, don’t walk way – RUN as fast as you can!

Five years ago this was a very good looking and running car with approx. 38,000 actual miles. Little did we know that it would take an additional forty thousand dollars in restoration, modifications and improvements to turn this car into the beautiful example that it is today. Also, something that I think is very important about this particular car is that it runs even better then it looks

There has been far too much work done to this car to explain it all here. However, I can tell you that the work is fully documented with photographs and receipts.
