1971 Mercedes 280SL
(Fabulous show car)

THIS CAR HAS BEEN SOLD

This has to be one of the nicest 280SL’s available on the market today. I can’t imagine where you’re going to find a nicer one. I think it’s so nice that the pictures will do most of the talking for me.

This is a professional restoration that’s done to national show car winning standards. This is not just another car with nice paint and upholstery. This is a true, complete restoration of a fifty-five thousand actual mile California car. The car was taken apart too nothing and then rebuilt to an extremely high level of quality and workmanship. You cannot compare an automobile like this one too a car with what is often referred too in the hobby as a “shoe shine” restoration. You know the type; the auctions are full of them. These are the cars with a shinny re-paint, a little new upholstery and some spray can detailing under the hood. In my opinion, that is NOT a restoration! However, this car is definitely a restoration.

A vintage Mercedes restoration of this caliber can very easily run in the neighborhood of a hundred thousand dollars today. Not to mention the original purchase price of the un-restored car or the two years it might take to build it. This is a chance for a person to acquire a top quality car for less then the cost of the restoration plus you would have the enjoyment of the car right now, rather then having too wait a couple of years for it. Also, please keep in mind that for those of us who’ve been down this road before, we all know that it always costs way more then you can ever anticipate to fully restore a car. With the devaluation of the U.S. dollar against the Euro these days, the cost of replacing the parts alone in this restoration would be staggering.

This is an exceptional opportunity to buy one of the nicest 280 SL’s you’ll ever find and you can take some satisfaction in knowing that you’ve purchased it at a fraction of what it would cost to replace it.

I have numerous additional photos if you’d like to see them. I know the car very well too so I’m prepared to go over the specifics with you in detail.

We’ve decided to go with eighty-five thousand dollars as an asking price on this one. However, I’ve got a motivated seller here so, for a quick deal, I’ll have some room to negotiate. Or, if you might be interested in this one as a package deal with one of the other cars currently advertised, I could help you on the price even more. I’ll look forward to discussing it with you.
