1989 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS
An all-original, low mileage, one owner car.
This beautiful Grand Marquis belonged to the deceased parents of a good friend of mine and I’m going to offer it here as a favor to him. Scott’s Dad was a retired Ford engineer and he was very passionate about this car. These folks were what we call out here “snow birds” in Arizona. Each year, when the weather would turn cold, this car came out to Arizona for the winter.
The Mercury’s mileage has just turned over to one hundred thousand actual. Please keep in mind that this is less than six thousand miles per year on a seventeen-year-old car. In Arizona, most cars generally travel fifteen thousand miles per year. On this car, many of the miles were road miles that were put on during the spring and fall trips back and forth to Arizona.
The car is not a “perfect” show car. There are a few minor door dings and chips and there was a high quality professional repair done to a quarter panel many years ago. Otherwise, the paint could be classified as in excellent original condition. This one just happens to be painted in what is personally one of my favorite colors of this period. It’s sort of a medium red / maroon, which is very rich and sophisticated looking at the same time that it’s sporty and fun.
As you can see in the photos, the luxurious dark red velvet interior is outstanding. It also looks like it was never smoked in, as the ashtrays have never been used. Oh, and speaking of never being used, the original spare tire has never been on the ground either.
Listed below are some of the features on the car:
302 cu.in. V8 with a four speed automatic transmission. (By the way, Scott told me that the car gets approx. 26 mpg on the highway) Landau vinyl top, beautiful factory alloy wheels, p.w, p.b., a/c, am/fm/cassette stereo, cruise, tilt, power locks, etc, etc,
etc.
This car has been in great climates all of its life which have really attributed to the excellent condition you see today. Generally, its been in Arizona during the winter so there is no rust. The car has left Arizona in the summer so the upholstery, rubber, plastic, etc. didn’t get “fried to a crisp” like cars do out here.
So there you have it, perfect for someone who’s looking for a comfortable, safe and luxurious rear wheel drive car that gives reasonable mileage and doesn’t cost a lot of money.
Priced at $3,950.00
